Johnny B

I started working in restaurants when I was a teenager in the 1990’s in state of Maryland in the U.S. It was a great experience, since I didn’t have much food at my house where I grew up! The first restaurant was a southern U.S. country-style kitchen full of things on the menu like fried chicken, BBQ brisket, corn bread  and red beans and rice.

From there my experience grew as I went to college and continued to work in restaurants to pay the bills. I worked at an Irish pub in the evenings for a few years. Over the summer I worked at a seafood restaurant at the beach at the Atlantic Ocean. By the end of college I began working in higher-end fine-dining restaurants. Even after college I continued to work at restaurants in the evening while I started my career in technology. Over the years I have been lucky to learn a variety of different culinary practices and work with some amazing chefs!

In the 2010’s I began to travel more around the world, getting to experience food from different cultures. I began to speak more with the staff and restaurant owners when I went out to eat. I wanted to learn more, and find out more culinary secrets. Eventually, as I started to travel more slowly, luckily being able to digital nomad a bit, I’d even started participating in local events, cooking with my new friends from around the world.

Now I begin sharing my favorite recipes and secrets with everyone! I’d like to share the amazing places that I find special to me when I am hungry or just simply wanting to shop for ingredients. And of course I’ll have some fun recipes too!
